Change Windows 7 Login Background
Many times the motivation for putting up posts on this blog is every bit as much for my own reference as yours. My theory is if I find it useful, you may as well. This post falls into this category. When logging into Windows, the generic background is boring and stale. Today I did discover it can be changed surprisingly easy. The long detailed version can be found in a post over on How-To-Geek.
For those of you like myself who just want the short version, it involves two steps.

Update the registry key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\Background- ensure this value is set to
1

Give Windows a photo for the background.
- Ensure the photo is no larger than 256MB
- Rename the photo
backgroundDefault.jpg - Place the photo in
C:\Windows\System32\oobe\info\backgrounds
